Alone Time

My kids and the yayas are with my parents for vacation, and suddenly I find myself alone in the house. It is unusually quiet, and suddenly I wished the kids were here.  I did not even bother to cook since Ross is on duty, so I made myself a tuna sandwich instead.  It's funny how I would often wish to be able to spend some quiet moments alone, and now that I have  a few days all to myself, I find myself missing the kids...  But since this is a rare occasion, I might as well make the most out of this "alone" time to catch up on sleep, sit down and finish the Dan Brown book that has been sitting on top of my side table, clean up my closet, and in a couple of days I would be going home to fetch my kids and life would be back to normal again...

Laguna Trip

Last October 8, 2010, Ross, me and the kids traveled for the very first time as a family, minus the yayas.  We were headed for San Pablo, Laguna to attend the baptism of my brother-in-laws first born son.  It was vacation of sorts, we planned to visit Enchanted Kingdom and Manila Ocean Park, but we ended up visiting the latter as on the day we intended to go to EK, it was raining so hard.

I knew it was going to be a challenge for me because I was always used having an extra help when traveling with the kids, but I never expected the challenge to happen so soon.  As soon as we landed at the NAIA terminal 3, Andre was all over the place, and I had a hard time keeping up with him because I was carrying Micah, and Ross was busy with the luggage.  I guess he was just excited to be in a new place.

While waiting for our ride outside NAIA terminal 3.  Andre was pretty much exhausted by this time, while Micah was still ready to smile for the camera.

Day 1:  It was pretty much uneventful, this was the day we planned to go to Enchanted Kingdom but because of the heavy rains, we ended up in Jollibee in Los Baños, Laguna.

Day 2 was my nephew's baptism.  As usual, I was busy looking after the kids that I ended up not eating during the reception as I had to make sure the kids were able to eat first.  Ross was busy catching up with his old friends and that was fine since I know how much he wanted to spend time with them.

This was during the reception, Ross, Micah and me, Alex, Ria and Myke, Reden, Cathy and baby Reca.

The following day, we went to SM San Pablo.  Micah wanted to have her picture taken with her large pink lollipop.

Andre looking at baby Reca sleeping soundly despite the loud music playing in the background.

Andre and Micah acting goofy in front of the camera.  They really enjoyed those huge lollipops.  Andre always wanted to buy those lollipops at Candy Corner but It costs 99.95 and I would tell him to just get those gummy candies that costs 55 per 100 grams instead.  But since it was the opening day at this Candy Corner stall, they had everything on sale including the lollipops.

The smile of a happy and contented little boy!

Being the kikay that she is, Micah had to take her picture in front of this huge lipstick

With my nephew, Damian Reca... super cute!!

This is what kept my little angels behaved during our vacation.

It was a memorable vacation since it was the first time we all traveled together as a family.  To be honest, it was pretty tiring at times, but seeing my kids enjoy and have fun was worth it.

 Be Soft.
Do not let the world make you hard.
Do not let the pain make you hate.
Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness.
Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree,
You still believe it to be a beautiful place.

My Perfectly Unperfect Life

There are times when I wish I could edit my life.  Delete all the not-so-good things from the past, and only keep those that has brought happy memories.  But life is not lived that way.  There are no rewind or fast forward buttons either.  There must be a reason why life has to hurt sometimes.  We must experience hardships to enjoy all the good things that life has to offer.

Life would indeed be perfect if we could change things by just pushing a button.  But I think that there is no such thing as a perfect life.  The trials and problems that we are facing are meant to make us "better" not "bitter".  I have come to accept that my life is not perfect, but I am happy.

I am happy because I now that God has been good to me. Despite of my imperfections, I know that God loves me.

Praying with Feelings

God can handle our feelings. The stories of great souls always include accounts of their emotional connection with God. We are passionate creatures and God welcomes our anger, sorrow, frustration, fear, and celebration. In fact, he wants it! We're to love God with all our heart. God can handle your emotions. Use them as a booster rocket for prayer. Laugh out a prayer. Weep out a prayer. Connecting with God at this level is the very best place to find emotional wholeness.

Andre's Bumper Ball Experience

We visited Star City during our trip to Manila.  The last time Ross and I were there was around 6 years ago during my clerkship in Makati Medical Center.  It was basically the same as I remembered it, except for a few new attractions.  The Bumper Ball was a new one, exclusively for kids though.  The child is placed inside a big rubber ball inflated with air, and tossed into the water.  My son Andre said he wanted to try it, I was a bit hesitant because what if he got scared while inside the ball, but my husband said it was alright, so here goes...

The Bumper Ball

Andre was silent while waiting for his turn, so many things must have been going through his mind.

Getting inside the big rubber ball.

I asked the man in charge whether the air being blown inside the ball was warm, and he said it was not, and Andre eagerly sat in a fetal position while air was being pumped into the ball.

The ball was fully inflated and was about to be pushed into the water.

I wonder how it felt being inside the ball...

Andre had a hard time moving inside the ball, but he obviously enjoyed the experience.

His 5 minutes was almost up so Andre slowly made his way back to where we are by pushing the ball, but I had to ask the person in charge to help pull my son back before he gets exhausted :)

Happy Birthday Micah!

Last October 13 was Micah's 3rd birthday, we initially wanted her to have Jollibee party, but since we just came from our vacation in Tacloban for Mama's birthday and Manila where we attended the binyag of my brother-in-laws first born, we celebrated her birthday at home, a simple party but what's important is that she truly enjoyed her birthday with all the kids in our apartment complex.

Since Micah loves flower icing, I decided to fill her cake with colorful flower icings and sure enough she loved her birthday cake.

Micah was really happy and was beaming that day.

Micah is my mini-me.  Although we look alike, I can tell that she has a different personality,  She's more kikay than me, and loves to dress up.  She can be shy towards others, but once she starts to open up, she has a cheerful personality.

Ask her to show an angry face and this is how she projects.  But would instantly shift to her happy face mode in an instant.  Maybe she would grow up to be an actress someday, who knows? LOL!

Thank you Lord for all your blessings.  For giving me a daughter like Micah.  I pray that You grant her another year of good health and happiness.  Happy birthday my dear Micah, Thank you for making us happy!  May you grow up to be a blessing to others.

Happiness Will Find You
Happiness lives for those who cry, those who are hurt,
those who have searched, and those who tried;
For only they can appreciate the importance
of people who have touched their lives.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
If you pursue happiness, it will elude you.
But if you focus on your family, your friends,
the needs of others, your wotk and doing the very best you can,
happiness will find you.

Scrapbooking Online

I remember way back high school, I enjoyed making scrapbooks.  My photo albums would be filled with stickers, cut out images from magazines and other colorful designs.  But now scrap booking is easier because materials are readily available in bookstores, and you would have  a lot of designs to choose from.  I've been wanting to create a scrap book for my kids photos, but I have everything stored in my USB and never got to print them yet (which I plan to do very soon!)  So when I found a website which allows free scrap book image creation, I decided to try it out and I'm sharing the photos here.

Love Means
by Unknown

(A girl and guy were speeding over 100 mph on a motorcycle)

Girl: Slow down. I’m scared.
Guy: No this is fun.
Girl: No its not. Please, it’s too scary!
Guy: Then tell me you love me.
Girl: Fine, I love you. Slow down!
Guy: Now give me a BIG hug. (Girl hugs him)
Guy: Can u take my helmet off and put it on? It’s bugging me.

In the paper the next day: A motorcycle had crashed into a building because of break failure. Two people were on the motorcycle, but only one survived.

The truth was that halfway down the road, the guy realized that his breaks broke,
but he didn't want to let the girl know. Instead, he had her say she loved him, felt
her hug one last time, then had her wear his helmet so she would live even though it
meant he would die.

Catching Up

I think I have a lot to write about, but it seems I haven't got the time.  This is just a preview of things to come.  A lot of pictures to post and thoughts to share... It has been a busy week, but thank God it's Friday!
